Scanning using a multifunctional device

Scanning

Multifunctional Devices have the ability to scan documents through the document feeder at high speed, colour and double sided documents may be scanned in one pass.

Document scanning through a multifunctional device (mfd) makes the distribution of paper documents very straightforward, documents may be scanned and emailed directly from the mfd.

Many applications have been developed specifically for use with mfd's to make life in the office much easier. Ecopy is one such application that enables documents to be distributed effectively to many locations, here are some examples of how Ecopy and multifunctional devices may be used to great effect:

Ecopy and exchange server

When Ecopy is connected to the multifunctional device you benefit from direct integration with exchange, this means that when you scan a document to be emailed from the mfd a login screen appears to authenticate you as a user. Once you scan the document you can then email using your global address list as though you were sat at your pc, an additional benefit is that the scanned documents that you email appear in your 'sent items' folder just as they would have from your pc.

Ecopy Connectors

Ecopy has become so popular worldwide that many 'connectors' have been developed to enable quick integration between multifunctional devices and other applications. Most document management systems have Ecopy connectors which make it quick and simple to scan documents from the mfd into a document management system. Indexing documents may be accomplished at the mfd using the Ecopy keyboard. Some of the more popular ecopy connectors are listed here (link to ecopy connectors page coming soon)

Most mfd's have a touch screen display which may be customised to include one-touch 'buttons' to send scanned documents directly to specific applications or locations.

In the corporate environment multifunctional devices are an ideal way of bringing information to a central repository from remote locations.
